Notably, the sales of PS5 saw a significant boost, with 3.3 million units sold in the first quarter, marking an increase of 900,000 units compared to the same period last year. Hardware sales reached $1.3 billion, and network services (PS Plus, PS Now, ad revenue) amounted to $868.1 million. In-app purchases were the highest contributor with $1.47 billion, followed by sales of digital units ($1.06 billion), physical copies ($170 million), and first-party titles sold outside the PlayStation platform ($114.8 million).ĭuring this period, Sony sold a total of 56.5 million units of PS4 and PS5 games, out of which 6.6 million were first-party titles. Game sales accounted for 52.6% of the quarterly revenue. The primary reason for this decline was the impact of amortization expenses related to Sony’s acquisitions, including Bungie. However, the operating income for this quarter was ¥49.2 billion ($343 million), down 7% from the same period last year. The growth can be attributed to the sales of hardware, third-party titles, and the influence of foreign exchange rates.

In this latest report, Sony’s Game & Network Services (G&NS) segment generated ¥771.9 billion ($5.38 billion) in revenue, showing a 28% year-over-year increase.
